Simon Welton

Simon develops and Executive Produces shows across the Entertainment, Children’s and Comedy slates, and has also overseen Dramas.

Simon has served as Show Runner on Horrible Histories (CBBC) for 10 years, and also now looks after Horrible Science (CBBC), which he also co-created.

While at Lion, Simon has created and overseen shows including Sexy Beasts (Netflix and BBC3, format sold worldwide), Officially Amazing (100 episodes for CBBC), Scream if You Know The Answer (UKTV, format sold Worldwide), Play Your Pets Right (Sky Kids, winner of Best Entertainment show at the 2019 Children’s BAFTAS), When Bowie Met Bolan (part of Sky Arts’ Urban Myths series), and Playing It Straight (E4). He was also involved in the Development of recent commission Balamory.

Prior to joining Lion, Simon started out on The Big Breakfast, and went on to work on many of the early series of Big Brother (including acting as Commissioner for Channel 4, overseeing Little Brother), and has Exec’d shows including Soccer Aid, The Games and Space Cadets.
